The brief

Blocons (blocons.com) is a brand of our own business group, so this case describes work done inside the group. It advises crypto businesses on licensing and compliance: authorisation as a crypto-asset service provider (CASP) in the EU, registration in the UK, Canada, the US and Singapore, company set-up, AML and KYC.

The site runs on MODX Revolution in six languages: English, Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish, French and German. In 2026 the market under it changed. The EU's MiCA regulation replaced the national crypto registers, Lithuania closed its regime on 1 January 2026, and the transition periods in Estonia and Malta ended on 1 July 2026. A buyer arriving from search needed to see what can still be obtained today, from which regulator, and how long it takes. The site still sold the old regimes.

What we did

The audit

On 8 August 2026 we audited the site end to end: content against current regulation, technical health, analytics, the enquiry path and visibility to AI assistants. Key findings were checked a second time before they went into the plan.

Fixes that brought the site back to working order

  • 109 blog pages returned an empty body. The texts were intact in the database. The article template had been rewritten in a way that crashed and returned an empty page with status 200. We moved it onto the same rendering method the service pages use, and all 109 pages now show their articles, about 1,180 words on average.
  • Enquiries. The contact form had stopped saving submissions in the spring of 2026 for two reasons: the anti-spam widget belonged to an account where the domain was not allowed, and anonymous sessions were switched off, so the form could not find its own settings. Both were fixed, and a test enquiry was saved on 9 August, the first since 30 April.
  • Analytics. A one-character typo in the tag manager snippet kept the container from loading on any page. With it fixed, page views and form events started to arrive.
  • AI crawlers. A CDN setting replaced the site's robots.txt with one that blocked GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended and other AI crawlers. It was switched off, and the site's own robots.txt is served again.
  • Sitemaps. Google knew only the English sitemap. The Spanish one was unpublished. All six now sit in one sitemap index, which took the count from 119 to 641 URLs.

Cleaning out what could not be defended

We took off 54 blocks of "2025 tips" with invented facts, 24 placeholder testimonials and an awards counter nobody could confirm. The structured data and texts named the template's demo company, and now name Blocons. Emoji were removed from 477 meta descriptions, the x-default language now points to English, and pages for the closed regimes carry a MiCA notice at the top.

Money pages rewritten for MiCA

The new header has a mega menu and a mobile panel, and the home page opens with a regime board: six jurisdictions with the regulator, today's status, the usual timeline and the capital range, updated with a visible date. Then the pages that sell were rewritten in all six languages:

  • Estonia, Malta, Lithuania and the United Kingdom, 24 pages in total, each opening with a direct answer and covering the regulator, timing, requirements and what a holder of an old registration should do now;
  • a new hub, MiCA CASP licence in the EU, that explains one authorisation for the whole EEA and how to choose a member state;
  • on 6 October 2026, the licensing of crypto activities hub in six languages, with a map of regulators linked to the country pages.

The same round corrected the MiCA decision timeline on 24 pages to 25 working days for completeness plus 40 for the decision, checked against the regulation's text, and reworked the search snippets of 13 pages that already ranked close to the first page.

Where it stands today

Checked on 11 October 2026:

  • blocons.com answers over HTTPS in six languages, and the six sitemaps list 644 URLs;
  • the regime board, the MiCA CASP hub and the licensing hub are live;
  • enquiries carry their source and one-tap Telegram and WhatsApp links into the notification;
  • the footer carries the Marketing MIX credit.

What we would add now

Positions before snippets

From July to early October 2026 about three quarters of the site's Google impressions came from positions below 40. Better snippets help only once a page sits near the top, so the next step is depth and links for the pages buyers compare first. See SEO services in Ottawa: technical and local SEO.
