Moving company marketing, in one paragraph

Moving company marketing is the system that turns people who are about to move into booked jobs for your crews. It combines a fast website with a quote quiz, paid ads on Google, Meta and TikTok, Google Local Services Ads, a complete Google Business Profile, reviews, SEO, and visibility in AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, all connected to a CRM that answers every enquiry within minutes and reports the cost of each booked move.

Marketing MIX is an international marketing studio with Ukrainian roots, founded in Kyiv in 2014 and headquartered at 208 Booth Street, Ottawa, since 2024. We build this system for moving companies in Canada, starting with Metro Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Calgary, and we work in English, French, Russian, Ukrainian and German.

Running a moving company in Metro Vancouver? Our Vancouver quote-quiz campaign aims at leads for $10 each. Take the 4-question quiz and we send you a launch plan for your area.

How customers choose a mover in 2026

People planning a move look for proof before they look for price. They compare several movers at once, read reviews, check the address and insurance, and increasingly ask an AI assistant for a shortlist.

Three things shape that decision:

  • Trust. The Canadian Association of Movers warns consumers about moving scams: quotes by phone only, large upfront deposits, fake reviews and fake association logos. A mover who shows a real address, real crew photos, insurance details and a written estimate process removes the doubt that stops people from booking. See the CAM consumer alerts at mover.net.
  • Reviews and maps. Google reviews and the map pack decide who gets the first call for "movers near me".
  • AI assistants. In BrightLocal's 2026 Local Consumer Review Survey, 45% of US adults said they had used AI tools such as ChatGPT to find local business recommendations (source). Those tools quote the sources they trust, so a mover's facts need to be consistent everywhere.

The marketing system we build for movers

Every channel below feeds one path: ad or search → website or quiz → CRM → a call within minutes → written estimate → booked move → review request. When one step breaks, the whole budget leaks, so we build and measure the path end to end.

A website that books estimates

Your website has one job: turn a visit into a request for an estimate. We build moving company websites that load fast on a phone and show:

  • the services you actually sell: local, long distance, office, packing, storage, piano and specialty moves;
  • the areas you serve, with a page for each city or region that matters;
  • trust signals: address, insurance, crew photos, reviews, association memberships you really hold;
  • a clear estimate process: what you ask, when you send a written quote, what can change the price.

A quote-quiz funnel in place of a long form

A long contact form loses people on a phone. A quote quiz asks one question per screen with big buttons: move size, date, from and to, building type, elevator booking, packing needs, then contact details. It qualifies the lead before your dispatcher calls.

For Vancouver condo moves the quiz asks about strata rules: many buildings require a booked service elevator and a certificate of insurance from the mover. Asking early shows competence and saves a wasted call.

The quiz promises a price range or a callback with a written estimate. It never shows a binding final price, because provincial rules treat estimates seriously (see the section on advertising estimates below).

A booking app, when volume justifies it

A mobile app makes sense for movers with repeat corporate clients, storage customers or many crews to coordinate: online booking, move status, photo inventory, payments and review requests in one place. For most local movers we start with the mobile website and quiz, then build the app once the lead flow is proven.

CRM, lead routing and speed to lead

Every lead lands in the CRM your dispatchers already use, with the quiz answers attached. The customer gets an instant confirmation, the dispatcher gets an alert, and the response time is tracked. Follow-up messages respect Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), which requires consent before commercial electronic messages.

Analytics that count booked moves

We track the full chain: lead, qualified lead, estimate, booked move and revenue by source. Calls are tracked as conversions, offline bookings are sent back to Google and Meta, and the weekly report shows cost per lead next to cost per booked move.

Google Local Services Ads for movers in Canada

Google's Canadian help centre lists movers among the eligible Local Services Ads categories, and businesses that pass the checks can show the Google Verified badge (Google help). You pay per lead. Reviews, response speed and business hours influence how often the ad appears, so LSA works best when the CRM and dispatch side is ready.

We set up the profile, service areas and job types, handle the verification paperwork with you, and dispute leads that fall outside your services.

Google Search Ads

Search Ads cover what LSA misses: long-distance routes, office relocations, storage, packing services and specific city searches. We build campaigns with strict negative keywords (truck rental, DIY, jobs) and send traffic to the quiz or the matching service page. Related: Paid social and search ads.

Meta and TikTok ads

Facebook and Instagram reach people before they search: new leases, home sales, seasonal moves. We run quiz-based campaigns with qualifying questions and retarget visitors who started the quiz. TikTok works for movers who can film their crews; short honest videos build recognition before the moving date. Related: TikTok ads that actually convert and Social media that drives revenue.

Marketplaces and your own funnel

Marketplace leads Your own funnel
Speed Immediate Weeks to set up
Exclusivity Often sent to several movers Yours alone
Price control Set by the platform Set by your ads and conversion rate
Asset Stays with the platform Website, audiences, reviews and data stay with you
Best use Filling gaps in the calendar Long-term growth

We connect both to one report, so you see which source books moves at the lowest cost.

Local SEO and Google Business Profile for movers

Local SEO decides whether you appear in the map pack when someone searches "movers in Burnaby" or "moving company Ottawa". The work covers:

  • Business Profile set-up. Most movers are service-area businesses. Google allows you to hide your address when you serve customers at their location, and your profile then shows the service area (Google help).
  • Categories, services and photos that match what you really do.
  • Consistent name, address and phone on your website, directories, BBB, HomeStars, Yelp and association listings.
  • City and neighbourhood pages with real local detail: building types, parking, typical access problems.
  • A steady flow of reviews requested after every move, with a reply to each one.

SEO content that books moves

Search traffic turns into bookings when pages answer the questions customers ask before they call. We plan and write:

  • city and service pages ("long distance movers Vancouver to Calgary", "office moving Ottawa");
  • cost guides that explain what changes a moving price, without promising a figure you cannot hold;
  • condo and strata guides: elevator booking, certificate of insurance, move-in fees;
  • seasonal pages for month-end, summer and July 1 in Quebec;
  • checklists that customers save and share.

GEO and AEO: getting recommended by ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews

GEO (generative engine optimization) and AEO (answer engine optimization) make a business easy for AI assistants to find, understand and cite. For movers it comes down to four things:

  1. One set of facts everywhere. The same company name, address, phone, service area and services on your site, Google profile and directories.
  2. Answer-first pages. Each service and city page opens with a direct answer to the question a customer asks, followed by details, tables and FAQs.
  3. Third-party proof. A Whitespark study of AI Overviews in local search found that many citations point to third-party sites such as review platforms and forums (study). Reviews and mentions outside your own site matter.
  4. Clean technical signals. Structured data that matches the visible text, fast pages and an up-to-date Business Profile. Google says AI Overviews and AI Mode need no special markup beyond sound SEO (Google Search Central).

We track a fixed set of prompts such as "best movers in Vancouver" or "long distance movers Ottawa to Toronto" in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Mode, and report which sources the answers cite. Related: LLM SEO & AI-search visibility.

Reviews and trust signals

Reviews are the strongest sales asset a mover has. We set up an automatic review request after each completed move, route unhappy customers to the owner first, and help you reply to every review in a calm, specific way.

On the website and in ads we show only what is true: the insurance you carry, the memberships you hold (Canadian Association of Movers, BBB), your real address and your estimate process. Trust claims that cannot be checked are exactly what scam warnings teach customers to avoid.

Advertising estimates responsibly

Ads that promise an exact price can backfire. Provincial consumer rules shape what a mover can charge:

  • Ontario: a mover cannot charge more than 10% above the estimate in the contract unless you agree to extra services (Ontario.ca).
  • Quebec: the Office de la protection du consommateur states that a moving company cannot demand a price higher than the one in the contract (OPC).
  • British Columbia: Consumer Protection BC advises consumers to get written estimates and ask about insurance (Consumer Protection BC).

So our quizzes and ads talk about price ranges, what affects the price and how the written estimate works. This keeps campaigns compliant and brings customers who already understand the process.

City playbooks

City What shapes demand What we build first
Vancouver and Metro Vancouver Condos and strata rules, elevator booking, certificates of insurance, month-end peaks Quiz with strata questions, LSA, Meta quiz campaigns
Toronto and the GTA Dense competition, condo moves, long commutes between suburbs Search Ads by area, city pages, reviews
Ottawa Mix of residential, office and relocation moves across Ontario and Quebec Bilingual pages, office moving campaigns
Montreal July 1 moving day, French-language search, stairs and walk-ups French ads and quiz, early-booking offers
Calgary Long-distance moves to and from British Columbia and Ontario Long-distance route pages, Search Ads

Vancouver and Metro Vancouver

Many strata buildings ask for a booked service elevator and a certificate of insurance before moving day. A quiz that asks about the building type, the elevator and the certificate in advance brings better-prepared customers and fewer surprises for your crew. Month-end dates fill first, so campaigns push mid-month and weekday availability.

Montreal and Quebec

July 1 is the traditional moving day in Quebec, and demand concentrates around it. Campaigns start early, run in French, and use Quebec vocabulary: customers ask for a soumission, the Quebec word for a quote (in France it is a devis).

Planning the budget around the season

Period Demand What to run
January to March Lower residential demand Office moves, storage, long distance, early bookings for spring and summer
April to June Rising Full funnel, reviews push, SEO content for summer
June 30 to July 1 (Quebec) Peak Early booking campaigns, capacity messaging
July and August Peak Protect margins, fill mid-month and weekday slots
Every month-end Short peaks Mid-month offers, waitlists
September to December Easing Retargeting, office and storage, SEO work for next season

Marketing for Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking moving company owners

Many moving companies in Canada and the US are run by owners who speak Russian or Ukrainian. We work in both languages with the owner and in English and French with the customers, so strategy calls, reports and ad copy are clear on both sides. Our Russian and Ukrainian pages on this topic cover the same system.

Also in Germany and France

The same system works for Umzugsunternehmen in Germany and déménageurs in France: exclusive enquiries through your own website and quiz alongside portal leads, local SEO, Google and Meta ads. The German and French versions of this page adapt the details to each market.

What we promise and what stays outside anyone's control

We promise the agreed work, written down before it starts, a measured starting point and honest weekly reports that count leads, estimates and booked moves by source.

Cost per lead, rankings and AI citations depend on your city, season, offer, reviews and response speed, so they stay targets. The $10 per lead figure in our Vancouver campaign is a target that we report against every week.

Our experience with movers so far is one moving company in Ottawa. That work shaped the quiz, the questions and the lead routing described on this page. If you run a moving company in British Columbia, you would be one of our first clients there, with every ad account and every lead in your own name.

How we start: the first 30 days

  1. Strategy session. A 30-minute marketing strategy session for €100: we look at your website, Google profile, reviews and current lead sources.
  2. Audit and plan. A written list of fixes and a channel plan for your city and season.
  3. Tracking. Call tracking, conversions, CRM connection and a weekly report.
  4. Google Business Profile and Local Services Ads. Profile clean-up, verification, service areas.
  5. Quote quiz. Built in your brand colours, connected to your CRM.
  6. Ads. Google Search and Meta campaigns pointing to the quiz, then TikTok if you have crew videos.
  7. SEO and AI search. City and service pages, review flow, prompt tracking.

Everything after the strategy session is quoted for your scope. How the session works: Pricing.

Start with your city

Take the Vancouver movers quiz, book the 30-minute strategy session, or send a two-minute brief. A person at the studio reads every request and replies with the next step.
