Contractor marketing, in one paragraph

Contractor marketing is the set of pages, profiles and ads that turns a homeowner's search or scroll into a request with the job attached: what needs doing, how big it is, where and when. For a renovation company, a painter or a deck and fence crew it is measured by requests and by the cost of each request, then by the jobs the owner signs from them.

Marketing MIX has worked since 2012, first in Kyiv and from 2024 in Ottawa. For trades we build the site, the quote quizzes, the Meta ads and the Google profile, and connect them so each request posts to the owner's Telegram or chat within seconds. Step one costs nothing: we review your site and profile and write a plan for the first month. Management of the ads is priced once that review is done.

How to start

  1. Free review. Send us your site address and your Google profile through the free site review request. We reply with what to fix first and a plan for the first month.
  2. Quote for the work. Ads management is quoted after the review. A new site or quiz can be estimated with the quiz below or on the website cost estimate page; published prices are on the pricing page.
  3. Launch and weekly numbers. Requests, cost per request and which ad brought each one, every week.

The service is open to contractors in Canada and the United States.

Who is the site for?

What the work has produced

From 14 August to 26 October 2026 the three Korvex Construction quizzes logged 67 leads after test entries were removed. The site, the quizzes, the ads and the Google profile are described step by step in the Korvex case.

What a contractor's site and quiz have to ask

A homeowner who sees a reel of a finished deck and wants a price will answer five quick questions on a phone. The answers let the owner call back with a rough number in mind, before driving out.

  • Job type. Deck, fence, interlock, drainage, basement, bathroom, feature wall, painting. One tap each.
  • Size, in the unit you price by. Square feet of deck, linear feet of fence, number of rooms or cabinet doors.
  • Photos. Three to eight phone photos of the area, taken from where the customer stands.
  • Timeline. As soon as possible, this season or planning ahead.
  • Postal code. It tells you whether the job sits inside your service area and how far the crew drives.
  • Contact. A name and one field that takes a phone number or an email, with WhatsApp and call links next to it.

The Korvex Construction quizzes in Ottawa taught two lessons worth copying. Between 14 August and 26 October 2026 the three quizzes logged 67 leads. Many people picked the lowest budget band and asked for the work as soon as possible, so the demand was real and often small. And when one step was removed from a quiz screen on 2 October, the server script still required its fields and real submissions were rejected that morning. A change to quiz steps is now tested together with the script that receives it.

Contractor website design

A contractor site works when it follows how homeowners shop for a trade: they look at the job they need, then at proof, then at the button.

  • One page per job type that explains the build, the common failures and the price drivers, and ends with an estimate button that passes the job type into the form.
  • Project pages written from the owner's own job photos: the area, the month, the materials, the before and after.
  • Pages by service and area, each with its own local facts. For Korvex we built such pages in English and French for decks, fences, interlock and drainage across the Ottawa areas the crew serves.
  • A reviews page that pulls new Google reviews on a schedule and quotes them as written.
  • English and French where the customers need both.

If you already have a site that looks dated, see website redesign services; if it is broken or nobody has the passwords, see website rescue and migration.

Meta ads with a quiz for renovation offers

Facebook, Instagram and Threads reach homeowners before they search, which suits jobs where the look decides the purchase: feature walls, decks, kitchens. What brings requests is a defined offer that a person can react to, shown with the crew's own photos, and a quiz that opens straight from the ad.

At Korvex the October budget moved to interior feature walls, a product with a clear look and a starting price. The feature-wall quiz collected 21 leads from Meta ads in 17 days: 14 from Facebook, 6 from Instagram and 1 from Threads. A broader quiz for larger projects, with no defined product, brought almost nothing in the same season.

Every lead also reaches Meta from the server, carrying the event id of the browser pixel event, so Meta counts it once and the campaign learns from real requests. Since 24 October each lead message in the owner's chat shows the platform and the ad the person came from. More on how we run the campaigns: Meta ads for small businesses.

Google Business Profile and reviews

For searches like "deck builder near me" the map results come before any website. We set the main category and the secondary ones that match the jobs you take, check the service area, add the website with a tagged link and upload real job photos. Korvex now carries several secondary categories next to the main one.

Reviews decide much of the rest. The cheapest habit to build is a review request sent on the day the job is finished, while the crew is packing up.

Local search by service and town

A page for "fences in Kanata" is worth publishing when it says something true about Kanata: the soil, the bylaws, the typical lot, the questions people there ask. A copy of one page with the town name swapped gives the reader nothing new, and Google's spam policies class such pages as doorways. We write each area page from sourced local facts and link it to the service page and the projects nearby.

Speed to lead

A homeowner who fills a quiz usually asks two or three contractors at once. Every completed quiz posts into the owner's chat with the answers numbered and one-tap WhatsApp and Telegram links, lands in a lead log and flows into a CRM, where the pipeline from first contact to estimate and contract is tracked.

Painters and other trades

Painting has its own quote logic: rooms and walls for interiors, doors and drawers for kitchen cabinets. It is covered on marketing for painting contractors, with the Montreal Mr. Gary case as the worked example.
