The brief
The International Charitable Foundation “Rehabilitation Center Shpital Maidanu” (in English, “The Hospital of Maidan”) traces its roots to February 2014, when an unofficial medical point of the Maidan opened at 7 Trokhsviatytelska Street in Kyiv. The foundation was registered on 25 April 2014, and Igor Bykov has headed it since that day. It describes its founders as patriots, citizens and volunteers who came together in 2014 to help the state and to help people defend their freedom, dignity and choice.
The history published on the site covers rehabilitation for more than 2,500 people from the Maidan at the centre, free stays in Ukrainian sanatoriums for 250 of them, logistics for evacuating refugees from the ATO zone, a reception point for mothers with children at the Teteriv sanatorium in the Zhytomyr region, and work with Polish partners on treatment and the “Children of Heroes” camps. The foundation defines its field as social, psychological, medical, educational, economic and consulting help for people affected by events since November 2013: service members, children, women, refugees and displaced people, as well as the Armed Forces and the State Emergency Service.
Its earlier site, shpytal.com.ua, ran on WordPress in Ukrainian, Russian and English and appears in web archives from 2015 to 2021; another team built it. In 2022 Marketing MIX designed and built the foundation's new website.
Some needs are common to every charity in this position. Donors and grant-makers check a foundation's registration, reports and recent activity before they give. Foundations raising money abroad need English pages and international payment options such as SWIFT, PayPal and cards.
What we did
Structure and languages
We built the site on MODX and supported it after launch; the footer read “Development and support” next to the Marketing MIX logo. The site worked in Ukrainian and English with a language switcher. The header menu stayed short: Projects, About us, News and Contacts, with links to the foundation's Facebook, Instagram and YouTube and a “Support” button. A donation banner repeated across the pages: “We need your help. Every hryvnia matters for the life and health of Ukrainians.”
Home page and team
The home page told the foundation's story from the Maidan medical point onwards and introduced its people in a team carousel: Igor Bykov as Chairman of the Board, his deputies Andrii Pyrohov and Viacheslav Zakharov, and about twenty volunteers, among them volunteers from Poland and other countries. A separate section was set up for projects and reports.
Donations and in-kind aid
The “Support” page grouped the ways to give into tabs: Privat24, bank details for private persons, PayPal, bank details for legal entities, and SWIFT transfers with separate US dollar and euro details. Below the tabs sat a form for offering humanitarian aid in kind: medicines, protective gear, medical and special equipment such as thermal imagers and night-vision devices, and food.
News
News articles carried share buttons for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Viber, WhatsApp, Skype and Telegram, previous and next navigation, and a “Join us” sidebar. A story from 12 May 2022, for example, reported on the foundation's ambulance crews on duty alongside State Emergency Service demining teams in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.
Where it stands today
The Internet Archive shows our site working at shpitalmaidanu.org on 21 March 2025 and again on 29 December 2025, still with the “Development and support Marketing MIX” credit in the footer. On both captures the newest news items were dated 5 February 2023 and covered equipment for a mobile hospital and supplies sent to the front.
On 14 September 2026 the domain shpitalmaidanu.org is no longer registered, and the site is offline.
The foundation itself remains registered in the Ukrainian state register (EDRPOU 39195919) and has filed financial statements for 2025. In July 2025 TSN reported that the foundation and the charity “Rehabilitation Centre Spirit” had filed complaints over ARMA's tender for a manager of the Zhovten sanatorium, which they wanted to turn into a medical rehabilitation centre.
What we would add now
For a relaunch, based on the 2025 version, we would recommend the following.
Keep the domain and the record in the foundation's hands
A lapsed domain takes years of projects, reports and news offline with it. We would register the domain in the organisation's name with automatic renewal and keep a static archive of reports and news that survives any change of hosting.
Readable for search engines and AI assistants
The archived home page had no meta description, no Open Graph tags, no structured data and no hreflang links between the Ukrainian and English versions. Organization and NGO markup with the registry code, DonateAction on the support page and correct language links would let search engines and AI assistants identify the foundation and describe its work accurately. See AI-readable website and AI SEO & GEO agency: ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews.
News that keeps flowing
The news feed stopped in February 2023 while the foundation stayed active. A light publishing flow, where a post written once for Telegram or Facebook also appears on the site, would keep the record current at no extra effort. See Marketing automation agency in Ottawa: n8n, Make, Zapier.
Faster giving and a measured funnel
The support page listed bank details and PayPal. Today we would add card, Apple Pay and Google Pay checkout and a monthly donation option. The archived pages carried no analytics tag, so we would also track which pages lead to donations. See AI search analytics.
Testimonial
This is the highest level of responsibility, professionalism and positive attitude I have come across. The work was done quickly, carefully and precisely. We are very pleased with the MMIX team. Keep it up!
— Igor Bykov, Chairman of the Foundation Board
